NLGI HPM Series Grease Certifications Nearing Completion
The approval of a new classification from NLGI in addition to GC-LB will soon be completed. The abbreviation HPM (High-Performance Multiuse) is deciphered as high-performance lubricants for multi-purpose use. HPM focuses on the main sets of characteristics collected from other NLGI provisions, which will ultimately allow consumers to choose exactly what they need. In addition to the basic categories of lubricant, several subcategories are provided.
Subcategories of characteristics in addition to the basic set:
- HPM + WR waterproof.(WR)
- HPM + HR lifting capacity (HL)
- HPM + CR salt water corrosion resistance (CR)
- HPM + LT low temperature resistance (LT)
These subcategories may also have additional attributes (e.g. HPM + CR or HPM + HL / WR)
In the future, the subcategories of HPM greases may be expanded as needed.
Fully formulated greases will be NLGI certified and tested to meet one or more of these categories, allowing the grease manufacturer to place the appropriate HPM mark on their packaging.
